New IFOCE Rankings

#26

My New World Ranking by the IFOCE

Exclusive - Here is the Profile I sent to the IFOCE for Erik the Red:

6’4”
208 lbs.
27 years old
Seattle, WA

Erik the Red was the nickname originally given to Erik Torvaldsson, the Scandinavian born Viking in the 10th century. Torvaldsson was a rebel and an explorer who was once exiled from Iceland for murdering a man, during his exile he discovered Greenland. Denmark enters the competitive eating realm much in the same vain with a rebellious and unbreakable determination. He is a fierce competitor and athlete who has raced in a triathlon with no training and carries a 2 handicap in golf. Erik the Red has competed in chicken wings, The Barrick Burger, chili cheese fries, corned beef and cabbage, and huevos rancheros. Red has an insatiable tolerance for hot and spicy foods with top performances coming in jalapenos, huevos rancheros, and chicken wings. Denmark is determined to reach the upper echelon of competitive eating and to explore the outer reaches of his stomach capacity.

Huevos Rancheros Results

Here are the results from the Huevos Rancheros (Mexican style eggs) Spring Break contest held in South Padre Island, Texas (AKA the middle of no where) on March 18, 2006 (IFOCE rankings in paranethesis):

1st-Rich LeFevre(6) 7.75 lbs $1500
2nd-Crazy Legs Conti(19) 4.5 lbs $750
3rd-Erik the Red Denmark(NR) 3.5 lbs $250

That's right, I got 3rd and won some money! Yeah baby! Actually, I would have been severely disappointed if I finished out of the money in this contest. Although, scrambled eggs are not my favorite dish, the competition was limited and LeFevre, Crazy Legs and I were the only pros there (Not sure when exactly I turned Pro but its true, I am a Pro now, and now I can die a satisfied man).

South Padre Island was scattered with severely intoxicated, beligerent, underaged and flaunting spring breakers, where all it takes is a shiny beaded necklace, that in most normal circumstances no conscious human being would consider as collateral for a toothpick, to have women show you their breasts. What a beautiful place to be.

Corned Beef and Cabbage Results

Corned beed and cabbage results from Ned Devine's Irish Pub in Boston, MA on March 16, 2006 (Current IFOCE rankings in paranthesis):

1. Pat Bertoletti (10), 5.75 pounds, $2500
2. Badlands Booker (5), 5 pounds, $1250
3. Tim “Eater X” Janus (7), 4.75, $750
4. Crazy Legs Conti (19), 4.5, $325
5. Pat from Moonachie Philbin (15), 3.75, $175
6. Erik the Red Denmark (NR), 3.5
6. Krazy Kevin Lipsitz (34), 3.5
8. Ryan Hodson (NR), 3
8. Ken “Mongo” Federighi (NR), 3
8. David “Brickhouse” Braunstein (NR), 3

The corned beef and cabbage actually tasted pretty good, though it was definitley hard to chew the corned beef after the first pound went down. I am disappointed that I didn't get over 4 lbs. because this would have put me in the money and definitely was in reach for me, I was not at capacity when the contest ended. Not bad though, I am getting closer to feeling like I can compete and win against the top in the world.

Here is a link to very good in depth article about the contest:

About 1 minute from the start of the contest I am

Crazy Legs Conti (green hat) and Badlands booker
perform their pre-contest forms of meditation and Zen

Stuffing my face with Cabbage early in the contest

After the contest I took a proud picture with the famous Virgin Mary
Grilled Cheese Sandwich purchased by Golden Palace.Net for $28,000.
After seeing the Virgin Mary up close, I am definitely a believer!

Early Attempts at Competitive Eating

This is some early training I did for the birthday cake title
performed on my 9th birthday. Watchout Rich LeFevre...

This is an early display (I was 1 year old) of my focus and
determination in eating, even while fighting extreme
exhaustion and hitting "the wall" on this plate of mash potatoes
(the voices in the video are my family watching the video)...
